Addressed to Mr. Cotman St Martin's Plain Norwich.
My ear Sir
Papa's return, from his northwards journey ha re-collected us again at home, and we shall be happy to see you next week and to receive again the benefit of your instruction.
I have said we by mistake, for I, I am sorry to say shall be absent from home for nearly a fortnight. Dawson also, is enjoying himself in his long and eagerly anticipated visit to London.
My father was not well during his journey - the weather was cold and inclement, and travelling late and early increased a tendency to rheumatism from which he suffered before quitting home.
He therefore turned homeward after proceeding as far as Liverpool - having, as papa believed, provided a means of mamma's and Ellen's quick return home with Mrs.. Lucas ' family. But an illness with which Ellen has been lately attacked, prevented them from availing themselves of this escort - so now it still remains rather uncertain at what precise period we may be so happy as again to be all reunited.
I hope that your foot is quite recovered, and that Mrs.. Cotman and your family have been well since I last had the pleasure of hearing of them. Papa desires his kind remembrances to you -
I remain my dar Sir
Yours sincerely
Mary Anne Turner.
