    Mottram responds to a letter in which SDK had commented on what Mottram had written about John Crome and about Dawson Turner. He mentions Cotman's portrait of the Rev. Pendlebury Houghton, minister at the Octagon Chapel, Norwich.

    Dear Mr Kitson
    Thank you for your cordial letter about Crome, & the interesting things you say about the other portraits. Of course I am wrong about the Cotman portrait, I must correct that in the first reprint.
    There is a curious duplicate of the Murphy portrait of Crome at Norwich, a copy by Higham, I think.
    As to Dawson Turner, I must plead guilty to loose writing. I meant to say partner in a Quaker Bank, because of the considerable controversy that arose between Yarmouth & Norwich Gurneys about
