    Dear Mr Kitson

    It was most kind of you to think of
    Sending me that remarkable extract from a
    letter of Cotman's. I did not know of it: guessed
    his connexion with Bourdon simply from the [ ].
    Lastly in technique, and am naturally pleased
    to have this documentary confirmation. But
    what a wild fellow he must have been when
    he was working one of his moods of depression!
    As to his Bourdon influence at an earlier
    period. The Return of The Ark belonged to Sir
    George Beaumont who was the friend & patron
    of so many artists (including Cotmans youthful
