written two letters to Ann very merry funy ones about Amelia Morgan and her hot Ears and my ears burning a long time ago but something unpleasant occurred. So I have burned them. I was hoping about something when I wrote it and was disappointed so when I read it again would not send it because it did not harmonise with the change of circumstance, t’was before I was at Potters.
Ann will, lets hope, give me an account of her trip to Hanworth upon her return. Give me love to all Friends. To bed. I hope my cough may not trouble me.

I remain d. John and Ann
    Your Affectionate Brother
    Francis W. Cotman.

Will you let me know the price of Yarmouth herrings for a friend wants to know.
