    February 3. 1820. Yarmouth
    Dear Sir,
I was much gratified with the satisfaction you were pleased to express towards the first part of my Antiquities of Normandy.
A good Letter Press will add greatly to the interest without doubt, and that I may fairly Venture to say will be the case, for that department is undertaken by a Gentleman thoroughly acquainted with the Subject, and will himself be ably supported by the best Norman Antiquarians, subsequently little is to be feared on that head. Though I am not aware that there is any secrecy respecting the intended author of the proposed accompaniment. Still for the present I don't feel authorized to give his name. The Revd W. Humphray, wd, doubtless have been a very keen personage for such an undertaking and I am surprised he has never turned his thoughts that way possessing the ability. for your very kind solicitudes for my health I feel obliged. some stop has been put to the complain and I hope much from perseverance to bring myself round again. -I have sent all the paper I have for your small Norfolk - and the flats of Sir Jno and Lady Curzon, - and the sheets E and F though as I said before you are not entitled to letter proofs.
Your very Oblgd and Obt Servt
    J S Cotman
