    The Institute Dinner.
The annual dinner of the Royal Institute of British Architects last week was a function of more than usual interest, not only from the point of view of association and environment, but because, in the words of the Lord Mayor, of the great gathering of very distinguished people, and the large number of architects and their ladies, presided over by Sir Banister Fletcher, who assembled in the Guildhall. And if the after-dinner speeches seemed to be inadequate to the occasion, especially in their neglect of the subject of architecture as an art, it fell to an architect, Mr. Kitson, Hon. Secretary of the Institute, to make what was undoubtedly the best speech of the evening. His very happy remarks in proposing the toast of "The Guests," and the admirable manner in which the speech was delivered, gave a good deal of pleasure to those who heard him.
