May 23, 1930. Called at the Cotswold Gallery, where Finberg showed me 8 pencil drawings which had been offered to him. Mostly spotted and sized with a yellowish size - all were part of J. S. C.'s professional apparatus.
    (1) '2046 - J. S. Cotman.' 9 3/4 x 8. A thatched cottage - a man showing a doll to a little girl. Looked earlyish - has quality.
    (2) '270 - Lakenham. J. S. Cotman.' A cottage, like (but not the same as) cottage of s[oft] g[round] etching called Lakenham. Early, good.
    (3) '2386. Cotman.' 7 3/4 x 11 1/4 A cottage, brook in centre foreground (probably by a member of his family)
    (4) '477 - A Cottage at Drayton, Norf[ol]k - 1813.' A little girl in foreground 8 x 10 1 1/4. bad condition. nice drawing.
    (5) '1839. J S Cotman. West Dereham Church' 10 x 7 1/4. Outline drawing. Not very good.

I also looked at the drawing which E. H. New shewed me some time ago as a Cotman. It is inscribed on the back - 'Mill Lane, Chudleigh, Devon'.
