    Dear Mr Foster,

    The paintings which my father bought are at present stored away, and consequently I am afraid that I cannot let your friend see them.
    Had they been amongst the things we have out here I should have been only too glad to let him see them, but as you can well understand we have only a few things here, & the rest are stored till we have rebuilt.
    I hope you are fit & well despite the indifferent weather.
