Aug: 6 1927. With R.H.K to Thonock, Gainsborough, Lincs to see Sir H. B. Bacon’s Cotmans. Classical landscape, oil, exhibited at Tate 1922 & other oils good. The very early watercolours muddy, gummy & unattractive. Most of the best drawings have been reproduced in the studio. A delightful sepia drawing of Fecamp Abbey Church: from N.E with central tower. A good many pencil drawings.

Sept 3 1927. Went to Norwich with M.W.K, [Malim] & 2 of his boys. Saw an oil J.S.C at Boswell’s. Holkham Hall, painted on an oak panel, 6¾” x 10” (85£) from Miss Woolner’s collection. Similar view to that engraved in ‘Excursions’ but the other side of the house.

Sept 5 1927. Went to Yarmouth with 3 [Malim] boys. Visited Toll House Museum, where was a loan exhibition - among them 1 oil & 4 drawings lent by Mrs Barker of Woodbridge.
