1. There are 2 insets in mount of this drawing. (1) a small pencil sketch of the subject, with the shading emphasised. (2) a note by 'M.A.T' (Miss Dawson Turner) saying that the late Mr Cotman frequently made preliminary sketches, which he called his ‘Effects’.
