    Left Yarmouth + [turned] to Norwich, and later, in 1834 finally settled in London, where he obtained the post of Professor of Drawing at King's College, due, it is said, to his great contemporary, J. M. W Turner, who appreciated his artistic gifts—
    He lived eight years longer but the [close] of his life was clouded by depression. Disatisfied that his work was not valued as he felt it deserved, [illegible 1 word] that oil painting, his favorite branch of art, was unprofitable to him to the extent he desired to practice it, in consequence of the enforced incessant [teaching] necessary to provide for his family, preyed on his mind, and he died disheartened, not forseeing that his talent would be [reapraised] later, and himself [estimated] as one of the best [illegible 1 word] of that [artistic]period at Norwich which, from the [birth] of [illegible 1 word] until the death of [illegible 1 word], lasted nearly a century'
