    aug: 27-1933 Went with F.B + A. [Malim] to Lady [illegible 1 word] house at Foxfred. Mr Randall Davies told us of a lady who lived near Halesworth who had a Cotman oil.

    aug 28- Went with Christo [Malim] to Castle Museum Norwich— the 105 ‘drawing copies’ lately acquired this the Nat: art collections when on exhibhition We went with [illegible 3 words] to Crown Point—saw ten Cotmans— Mrs Colman was there + she was friendly + pleasant.

    Sept 1- [Weekend] with gladys [Tetley] + Christo to Gordale Scar + Malham Tarn

    Sept 3- had tea with Robert + Beatrice Kitson, saw his Cotmans

    Sept 4- went this [time] Leeds Gallery, as recommended by John [Rothenstein]— very satisfying.

    Sept 5- went to [illegible 2 words], at [illegible 1 word]. His 2 big Cozens very fine. The '[illegible 1 word] [seen] at [Alencon]' seems to me to be most surely a contemporary copy by M. E. C.

    Sept 6- Went to the Laing art gallery N/C. One Cotman - a Mount St Michel. The [illegible 2 words] was as good; 2 especially— a quay-side scene (upright), + a small 'boat on a [river]'.

    Sept 7- Went to Wallington— 2 early Turner watercolours c 1795 'Dunstanburgh' (bad) + 'Brinkburn Priory (rather good but faded ). Books full of drawings by Pauline Lady Trevelyan — among them "Rocks near Tunbridge Wells June 1835. Sketch with [Varley]"— (w.c) and on the Thames near Richmond/ aug 1835. Lesson with [Varley]" (w.c)—there are over 100 [illegible 2 words] Italian drawings in the manner of Cozens, some good.
