drawing on the same day to the Club. It is the finished drawing of my pencil sketch 'Prince Regent's Barge['] No. 74. I took the drawing to Heaton Wallis for a photo.
Paterson wrote he had a Cotman w[ater]c[olour], ‘unfinished but very fresh’. *I think it is Falaise from the N[orth] suburb, rather dirty, grey sky: probably right but done when J.S.C. was a sick man in 1823. He asked £50. for it.
[Sketch by Kitson with marginal note]
No: it is Bungay, Suffolk. See Ex[cursio]ns thro’ Suffolk 1818 – See p. 106, Vol. 2, where there is an engraving from a drawing by J.S.C. at a different angle.
Colnaghi’s have an upright w[ater]c[olour] ‘Interior of of [sic] Norwich Cathedral – showing the bridge in N[orth] Ambulatory, signed ‘Cotman, 1828/9’. Also from Bellingham Smith’s Coll[ectio]n. (30£)
Same category as Clausen’s ‘Triforium, Norwich Cath[edra]l’.
