Thank you very much indeed for the photograph of Brandsby Byland. It more than confirms my memory of the drawing when it was at the Tate. I hadn't then however a clue as to its date but I think that you are perfectly right. It is obviously a wedding present: it has all the characteristics of a wedding cake, even of a whole wedding breakfast. Psychologically it is
