June 11. 1929. Went to the Burlington Fine Art Club - an exhibition of Marine subjects. The almost square JSC oil 'After the Storm' (R. J. Colman) looked very well. Some good pencil sketches by Constable (Reinaecker). In the library is a catalogue of a loan exhibition of Cotmans (lent by R. J. Colman) held at the Whitworth Trust Aug. - Oct : 1912. There were 10 oils, including "Yarmouth Beach with Figures" sold in 1834
The watercolours included -
"Bishop's Bridge, Norwich" in brown and green made by the artist at 18 and typical of that period. 8⅜ x 13.
The Devil's Town, Norwich, signed 'Cotman 1800' - 8⅝ x 13

Greta Bridge 'J S Cotman. 1810' - 11¾ x 19¾
Spruggins Hall - 'J S Cotman. 1833' - 17¼ x 13.
The Back of Houses, Surrey Street, Norwich. 12½ x 9
The tall house with supposed alterations going on + open door was the residence of the the artist's friend Thomas Brightwell [[Esq.]] c. 1827. The probable date of this drawing is 1830-5.
