    Dear Mr Kitson,
    I am sorry I can make nothing of the drawings. The house does not appear to be Gilling and if the church with tower is indicated low down on the right (i.e. about midway up on the right edge) is meant to be part of the picture it certainly is not Gilling. If it isn't a church & tower, there are buildings there of some sort in a position that indicates some house I don't know. It is attractive and I'd like to place it if I could: quite typical of Yorkshire I think, but it baffles me.
    It is most kind of you to offer me a photograph of the Byland Abbey drawing; I shall be most glad to have it.
    The letters you tell me of are very interesting + I should much like to see them some time.
    I do not know who the Nortons were or where to look
