    E.W. Clayton - 69 Rodney Court, W9. has an early Cotman (1801) for sale.
    J. Howard Barnes F.I.A. 29 Muswell Avenue, Muswell Hill N.10 is the owner of the Sketching Club drawings described by Oppé in the 'Connoisseur'

    • Letter from P.O - June 12. 1928
      'A Castle of Bentheim' by Jacob Ruysdael (sic) belonging to W. Smith (M.P. for Norwich 1802 - 1830) was exhibited at the British Institution in 1815' P.C from P.O 14. June 1928

      June 19 - met Stanley Pearson at the R.A. He told me that there was an old thorn-tree in the grounds of Brandsby Hall, with 'J.S.C' carved upon its trunk.

    Dear Kitson
    Yes. Binyon and I had the 'Backwater' taken off its mount and failed to find anywhere any trace of the date Sept. 1798. I therefore entirely gave up any idea of its being a pre-London production & your drawings confirm this scepticism. But of course Reeve may have had some reason for his note.
