Edward Dayes

1763 - 1804

An English watercolour painter and engraver in mezzotint, Dayes exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1786. He painted from nature, often depicting ruins. He has been credited with influencing the early works of JMW Turner, and of marking the transition between 18th and 19th Century painting.
