1784 - 1849
Peter de Wint (1784 - 1849) was strongly influenced by John Varley and Thomas Girtin in his youth. He bought a house in Lincoln, his wife's home town, in 1814 and visited the city almost every summer thereafter, returning to London to teach in the autumn. He was very prolific, and became especially associated with the agricultural and rural scenes of the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire landscapes.
