A surgeon at Leeds General Infirmary and Professor of Surgery at the University of Leeds. He retired to his estate in Erpingham, Norfolk, but when war broke out he returned to work as Lieutenant-Colonel in charge of the Surgical Section of the 2nd Norther General Hospital.
