English architect. Founded his architectural practice in 1898. His first commissions included several power stations. In 1937, with architect W.H. Hamlyn, he re-modelled and re-constructed the Queens Hotel, City Square, Leeds. In 1942 he was awarded the Royal Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
