British, 1877 - 1950
An art dealer, born in Yorkshire, he was proprietor of the Independent Gallery in Grafton Street, London. The library of the Courtauld Institute has a collection of his papers and a gift/bequest of modern French prints and drawings was made to the BM in 1951. His 96 Rembrandt etchings were bequeathed to Norwich, and other gifts/ bequests were made to the Ashmolean and other museums. His executor was the Hon. Andrew Shirley.
