    Edmund is as cool and collected, and as Solemn, and Stupid, and as dull, and as grave, and as black, and as disagreeable and as flag-ma-tick.

    As an Admiral. - - quite provoking and detestable. He looks more like as if he was going to be hanged than going to jump as I hope he will into a good thing, how different to me. I was all fun to appearance and shew though it was either life or death to me. so much for temperament.

    P.S. Our Blk Cat’s hairs are fast falling from her head. I am afraid it is the mange. Ask Dixon whether he knows of anything that will do it good. She is a nice cat and a great favourite with your Mother.
    I have a nice pen holder and pens for you, when I can send them to you, better than all the quills ever made.

    P.S. 2nd. My dear Jack. I have just written such a Letter, of three sides to Lady Caroline Garnier, that if it does not bring you a little Carlos, why I say you never will have one. full of the best recollections of her and to her in my most florid style all heart and soul to such an old pupil. I have asked both her and the Earl of Albemarle for a testimonial for Toddles. I have also engaged the interest of [[Mr. Dapper]] Secretary to the Central [[School]] Society of Education a very clever and intelligent Man.

    P.S.S.The two hundreth and last. A very little will bring down your Mother to you.
