and I should certainly have returned with you, for I am afraid Mamma will think me very unkind for leaving her so long. I hope I shall hear for certainty now whether Papa or Edmund intends coming for me or not for I think it is quite time for me to think of returning. I was vexed you did not send me the letter or letters you had from London, although I fear from what you said all is not very comfortable there but you must tell me all about them when we meet. As I do not exactly know where abouts your lodgings are perhaps you will let my Aunt Thirtle know and then we can inquire of her on our way to the Close. The note I have enclosed is for Miss Partridge at My Aunt Susan’s which perhaps you will deliver for me.

We shall not come till after Tuesday as you are going to Yarmouth, and should anyone by chance give me an invitation to stay I wish you not to accept it, remember this John, they may not be so kind, but should they you will know how to act.

Give my love to all relations and friends, and believe me, to remain,

    My dear John Yours affectionately
    Anne Cotman
