fronting the fireplace when I left home you will find my Cards. Send all you find of them – there may be 100. Send the copper plate up too. For should I --------, I shall need them to return thanks with. Keep up your spirits, Tuesday is the day the Council meet, and on the Friday following this trial may be terminated. Turn up what may, I must have Norwich, and I hear whispers everywhere that I shall be supported. Let me but gain this appointment and but little will be required to set me afloat.
Your most affectionate Husband & Father,
    J. S. Cotman

I am invited by D. Roberts to see his Sketches in Spain, Andalusia, Algiers, etc. – in number about 500. Doors appear to open on all sides of me. All these things make me quite well. So fear not for me.

My love to Patty, and my dear Sir, pray send this to Norwich when you have read it.
