the boat perhaps better but no further. I know I think nearly how I stand, so pray do not lay on Flattery so thick in future.
I got on with my french, I am told by my Master very well!! yet I want to study the grammar much as I know nothing about that, and it is quite requisite.
I should have liked much to have been with you on Monday – at your Party – to have met the men you mention it must have been a most delightful evening. Those are the men to know, and say what you like, them you cannot find here. Lound tells me your lodgings are very comfortable ones, and many other things about you.
Oh! by the by I intend to cultivate my moustaches. I think it would improve my appearance very much and perhaps hide the crack in my lip, Mr. Geldart put me up to this plan and I believe will also cultivate his. The stone has just been laid for the yarn company’s manufactory and Walter is just returned from witnessing it, just a little tipsy or so with drinking wine with Mr. Bignold, Rob[e]r[t] Harvey and others there assembled. I send you your sponge. How is Miss Norton, Miss Cooke &c. Your affectionate Brother
    Miles Edmund Cotman.
