    Ann corrects some of John Joseph’s spelling mistakes. She is sorry to hear from Geldart that he is unwell.

    Addressed to Mr. J. J. Cotman,
    London.

    My dear John,
    You reminded me in Edmund’s letter of correcting your spelling, which I will now do[.] in your last letter to him there were only two words spelt wrong, writing, was one, and right the other, which were spelt thus (writeing, wright, in overlooking your letter again [I] find that pourtraying is wrong you had spelt it without the u. I am now about answering Miss Pratt’s note this you know dear John is not the most agreeable thing with me. I was sorry to hear such a bad account of you from Mr. Geldart, but hope when you write again to have a more favorable one. I am so busy my dear John this morning that I cannot write to you any thing worth the trouble of reading, you will I daresay have Papa’s letter to look at, let that suffice. I should not have written this, had I not found those words wrong in your letter. I must now conclude my dear John and remain
