    (?) Summer of 1834

You must get for me as soon as possible some paper to match the piece I have sent for pattern and some HB pencils as I am so out of them I shall be obliged I fear to get a doz or so at Freeman’s to go on with; and then the girls will grumble and say they are not and cannot be so good as those marked Cotman, Kings College!! So please do this quickly for me, as I am in extremity. The paper I got from Newman’s, Soho Square.
I have sent a letter from Walter addressed to us. The newspaper he mentions therein I would not take in as it was charged £1.12.
    With best love
    I remain your Affectionate Brother
    Miles E. Cotman.
