gone to Hamworth [i.e. Hanworth] by way of Burgsh [i.e. Burgh] (Geo’ Barbers) and also promised to go to Langley neither of which he has done or intend[s] to do. He is really a terrible man for promises. We, I mean He and I, are going to Yarmouth by invitation – from Turner, hunting at the same time. I may stay 4 or 5 days to see what can be done there as to teaching. I shall go but I expect no luck, as I must have 12 pupils to make it answer and I do not believe Yarmouth can furnish more than half the number. This is academy night, they have a live model and I shall not go as I have made three separate failures of the same subject. When they have a Rustic I shall attend, not till then.
As I do not intend to call this a letter I shall say no more, but do it up, and go to French so good by John. Oh by the bye when you send again send if you can find it my pencil case. I left it I think in the bedroom tis the one you gave me. Did you receive the £2.
    Yours very truly
    Miles Edmund Cotman.

I send this by Fred. Dixon who wishes to see Arthur’s Portrait.

Please take care of Mr. & Mrs. Miles Father wants them.
