    Dawson Turner Esq, Yarmouth, Norfolk
    J S Cotman.
Spread Eagle, Grace Church St, till Tuesday Morning. after that time till Wednesday evening at the Sun Hotel, Chatham.

    Dear Sir,

I am engaged at this moment in endeavouring to obtain a situation in a new Establishment at Chatham, where the loan of ten drawings of Mont St Michael & The Harbour at Dieppe would, I have not the least doubt, assist my operations greatly. May I trespass once more on your great kindness & beg you will send them to me (without the frames) in a stout folio - properly [papered? and ended?] up to this address- Mr J Cotman, Spread Eagle, Grace Church St - But to be of service to me, they must be sent off on or before Sunday - as I shall leave London for Chatham to attend the final arrangement of the Committee on Wednesday. The situation in value is only about £200 p. annum, to teach about 40 pupils, but the time they occupy is only the afternoon of Saturday !!! Consequently the time left on my hands may be most advantageously employed. At this moment my situation in Norfolk is a painful one (but on this point I request your silence, lest it be even worse) for my entire income from teaching is not £150, and my time fully occupied. Do me the favour to mention this to my kind friend, Mrs D. Turner. and I give my address at Chatham that I may have any opinion that he or you may be pleased to favour me with. This is written at Mr F. Palgrave's, where I dined yesterday, who has been most kind to me. Mr Palgrave recommends the step I am taking. I am just informed, dear Sir, that you are in London. In that case I have no other alternative than forwarding it to Mrs Brightwen, which I shall do through the medium of Mrs D.Turner. I pledge myself to be answerable for the safe return of the Drawings.
Dear Sir, Your obliged & ob
