    June 17-1822. White Horse, Fetter Lane.

    Gentlemen-
    In consequence of a trifling accident which has occured to me, which however has been attended with very alarming symptoms, I am debarred the pleasure of paying my respects [[in]] personally.
    To one query mentioned in your letter respecting Mrs C. Stothart's No. 4 Norman Antiquities - I request you will send it to her, together with a small parcel which I shall leave at the bar of this Inn to your address - another in the same envelope addressed to Miss H Goldsmith no.7 Blandford Terrace, I take the liberty to request may lay at your house to be called for. The no.4 for the late Sir H Englefield I must make enquiries about.
    I hope to be able to leave London tonight.

    The original letter was in the collection of John Gough Nichols (1806-1873) son of John Bowyer Nichols (1779 - 1863). It was sold at Sothebys 18.11.29 - Lot 145 where its date was wrongly given as July 17 1823.
