    [To Dawson Turner]
    July 8th 1811.
    Norwich.
    Dear Sir,
Having completed my frontispiece & Dedication Plates, nothing now remains but to print my Prospectus, my Index & my Honorable list of Subscribers to enable me to send them out to my friends. Which I am now very anxious to do. Wishing once more to get out sketching for my Norfolk work - a thing I cannot do until I have delivered my present Work. I have taken the liberty of sending you my Index that you may state to me whether it is done in a manner proper to meet the Eye of the Public.
Of Brayesworth (sic), I can find no account.
Of Croyland, I have said nothing wishing to get a better history of it than I have yet seen. A History of Lincoln[shire?] not being in the Norwich Library.
If [Jay?] is the name of the Gentleman [illegible 1 word] St Bennet’s Abbey you mentioned, he has very politely sent me an invitation - which is not more extraordinary than kind - not being at all known to him.
Without trespassing any longer on your time,
    I remain most respectfully
    Your most obliged servant
    John S Cotman
