Addressed to Mrs D. Turner Quay Yarmouth.
    St Martins at Palace Plain.
    Febr. 1st 1831.

    Dear Madam
It is with feelings of sincere regret I decline your kind and flattering invitation to visit you during the Fishery as my Father is in such low spirits and ill health as to make me wish to remain with and assist him as much as possible. I have been out too sketching so much this summer that really it is almost necessary for me to remain at home and turn the sketches I have made to some account. Therefore knowing the kindness of your intentions towards me however great may be my disappointment I can but feel I am doing my duty in thus answering your letter. My father and Anne desires their best respects and thanks for your kind enquiries after them and believe me to remain
    Yrs Respectfully
    Miles E. Cotman.
P.S. The letter was not received till Friday or it would have been answered sooner,
