    Dear Sydney,

You ought to have returned by now. I hope that you had a roaring time. Here we have had [illegible 1 word] promises of spring unfulfilled until last Sunday. Now we revive. But nature is a ficle (sic) Dame. It is about time that I gave you my Cotman budget. I wish that I'd done so before Easter. These ecclesiastic celebrations or the lay holidays that surround them disturb my obsolescent memories. I'm not so sure what my notes mean as I was before Easter. But they must suffice.
