Oct: 21.1932. Went to Walker’s - looked thro' the remaining Bulwer drawings, of which they still have about 75(?) - bought 4, and a sepia of romantic building, with cows in water in foreground. Also a diminishing glass belonging to J.S Cotman’s School of drawing and design, St Martin at Palace, Norwich.

Oct 27, 1932. Mr and Mrs John Sell Cotman came to lunch. They brought back the family portraits I lent them. Also sheet of 18 sketches, including the study for 2 of the figures in my ‘Harvest Field’, and 2 pencil portraits (1) a man, 1819, & (2) a man, 1828, which I swapped for the ‘ J. J. Cotman, Mch 1840’ portrait of a girl, which J.S.C is wife Cooper, afterwards Mrs J. J. C. She died c. 1900, aged c. 77. She set up a boy’s school at Wimbledon in 1873, and he went there when about a year old and she brought him up. She must have been a woman of character.
