    Friday Oct: 14, 1932. Called on R. H. Mottram after dinner. Saw the pencil portrait of the Rev. Pendlebury Houghton gummed into the m.s. 'History of the Octagon Chapel' by John Taylor, 1796. It is signed "J S Cotman", pencil, head is turned to left. The s.g. etching is turned to right. It is a poorish drawing, not so good as the s.g.
    11¼ x 8¼.
    P. H. came from Shrewsbury in 1787 (Aug:) when Mr Robert Alderson resigned being minister to take up a legal prof: (R. A. was afterwards Recorder of Norwich, Yar[mouth] & Ipswich for many years).
