I am wondering which picture you had in mind when writing the words I have quoted in the first paragraph of this letter. It occurs to me by your mention of "cows watering", that that Drawing may be a connecting link. Rokeby is barely 2 miles away from Barnard Castle Bridge and if as you suggest Cotman was with the Morritt's for "probably 6 weeks" he would [have - crossed out] certainly have tried his hand at Barnard Castle Bridge which is rapidly becoming one of the most painted bridges in this part of the Country. Sydney Lee had one in last years Academy, calling it the "Old Bridge".
I thought the above would interest you. I have already written to Mr Kennedy of the V.& A. Circulating Dept on the same lines as the above. My reason being that placing a definite name to the Bridge and fixing its period must surely enhance the picture's interest and value.
    Yours faithfully,
    Sydney E. Harrison
