    (9) Aug 18. 1834. JJ had returned with his father to 43
    Gerard St. Soho. 'Mrs Cotman seems rather better.'
    (10) Aug 28. 1834. Offers to bid & keep for J.J anything at St.
    Martin's which has been put in the sale.
    (11) Sept 1. 1834. Gives a long extract from a letter to a
    Young friend by G. Sharpe in 'the Quarterly.'
    (12) Sept 1. 1834 About the Dean's attitude towards ladies walking in the Close.
    (13) {Sept 10. 1834 post marked 10. Sept.} Describes the sale at St. Martin's. A man called Thompson is after the copper plates. warns J.J & his father that the reserve will not be reached, & the percentage [15%] will have been wasted.
    [Thompson bought many of the Cotman etchings at the sale.]
    (14) Sept 22. 1834. about a picture from Edmund Cotman's
    about J.S.C's happiness, etc.
    (15) Sept 27. 1834. Went with M.E.C & turned the keys for the
    last time of the house at St. Martin's.
    (16) Oct: 21. 1834. Has seen the Cotman family at the Terrace.
    mentions the Fire of the Houses of Parlt.
    (17) Nov: 8. 1834. Describes a visit to Yarmouth.
