Oct: 1930. Arthur Batchelor gave me letters
from Arthur Dixon to J.J. Cotman, extending from
    March 8. 1834 to Dec 10. 1834.
Arthur Dixon, Chemist, Exchange St. , Norwich.
Was a son of Robert Dixon, Tombland, Norwich. (Dickes)
    (?) the artist. 1780-1815.
    (1) March 8. 1834. He has finished sketches of Geldart to send
    to J.J.
    (2) March 19. 1834. [quoted by Dickes] Alfred Cotman's health,
J.J. is not coming to Norwich for Easter.
    (3) March 27. 1834. has just seen J.S.C. who arrived in Norwich that
day, who said of J.J.'s studies, "colouring broad
& flat, quite on the principle & full of the
    qualities I admire."
    (4) March 31. 1834. Horace Love is coming to town to do J.J.'s portrait
    for Geldart.
    (5) April 7. 1834. Sunsets & friendships, very
    affectionate letter.
    (6) April 13. 1834. Walks from Thorpe to Norwich & back
hoping for a letter from J.J.C.
    (7) May 21. 1834. about his flowers, & about a cart
    backing into his shop window.
    (8) June 14. 1834. Suggests that J.S.C shd. send Alfred
    to Switzerland.
