GEO. A. STEPHEN, F.L.A. NORWICH
City Librarian
Telephone No. 1401. Ex. 60 11th October 1930.
Sydney D. Kitson, Esq.,
The Old Water-Colour Society'd Club,
5a, Pall Mall East,
LONDON. S.W.I.
Dear Sir,
This Library contains an exceedingly large and
valuable Local Collection, an important section of which
relates to the Norwich School of Painting and other
local artists. In 1915 this Library published an annotated
bibliography of Norfolk Artists.
I am naturally anxious to make our Local Collection,
which is largely used by students and others, as complete
as possible. A few months ago, I endeavoured to obtain
a copy of the seventh annual volume issued by the Old
Water-Colour Society's Club, which contains your monograph
on John Sell Cotman. The Secretary informed me that the
separate volumes were not sold. Unfortunately, this
Library is unable to subscribe for the complete set of the
publications, and I am therefore writing to ask if you
happen to have an^ extra copy of the volume containing
your monograph on Cotman, or whether you could put me in
touch with someone who would be willing to part with his
copy. I feel sure you will agree that there should be in
this Library a copy of your work.
Yours faithfully,
Geo. A. Stephen
City Librarian.
