only garden walls. The bastion does not exist. There is
a square 18th. cent: Gazebo at the bottom of the next
garden. The Jacobean 'Thorpe Hall' seen thro' the
trees on the right still exists, much as shown.
We went on to the house of Wilfred Tillett,
2 Claremont Rd., Norwich. Solicitors, & executor
of J. Reeve, to see a lithograph portrait of J.Reeve
by A.B., which is magnificent.
In the dining room, framed, both belonged to J.R.
(1) Cairngorm, pencil & Indian ink wash
the sketch for Miss Bulwer's Carnarvon & for
Paul Oppé's do. 4 5/8 x 10. The same size &
type of paper as the 1800 dated Chepstow drawings
in my possession. The wash is very 'Japanesque'
and may be later, but the pencil work is Girtinesque.
It is signed J.S.Cotman
J.S.Cotman. - [2 over].
(2) A Sepia
landscape, drawing
done with a very
thin brush. (?)
A copy of a Cozins [Cozen]
done by J.S.C in 1799
or 1800. Signed
'J.S.Cotman'.
