    J.J.Cotman's Etchings.
    There are two etchings by J.J.Cotman in B.M.
    (1) A group of trees r, with stream & distant
    landscape, l. "J.J.C Sept:1840". heavily worked
    over imprint.
    (2) Trees in a glade. railings r.
    "J. J. Cotman. 1840."

    Written on the impressions in B.M. of the soft ground etching
    of the Rev: Pendlebury Houghton, Minister of the Octagon
    Chapel, Norwich. The original drawing by J.S.Cotman
    from which this etching was made is now mounted in one
    of his books in possession of the Trustees of the Octagon
    Chapel.
    [On the top of] Above the plate is written in J.S.C's writing
    "Mr Hooker,
    Dear Sir,
    Here are all the soft ground etchings which I have at
    present. When I print again I will
    finish a Book for you similar to that presented
    to Mrs. Dawson Turner
