    May 2 1888 [? Joseph Geldart's notes]
Oct 30. 1841. Saturday - Cotmans, etc, spent the evening
at my home, & 'Old Cotman' put a new foreground
in chalk to one of my brother Joseph's sketches.
Oct 31. 1841. Sunday. Spent the morning with the Cotmans
at John J. C's house at Highham, & saw some of 'Old
Cotman's' sketches which he has recently made. The
Valley's round here all flooded on a/c of the incessant
    rains.
Nov 17. 1841. Wednesday. Conversations at John J. Cotman's rooms
where some of 'Old Cotman's' sketches were exhibited, which
were afterwards published. A second conversation
was held on Dec 3 but I was staying at Yarmouth
    & was not present.
June 20. 1842. Spent the evening with the Cotmans in London
on my return from Portugal, and 'Old Cotman', who
was seriously ill, showed us his 'Normandy
    Sketches' in Sepia.
