    from the Bacon collections. There were 2 or 3 very fine Girtins wh[ich] hadn't stuck in my memory & things wh[ich] I should have called Girtin wh[ich] are given to Crome; very fine, too, two of them. The Cotmans that I forgot are more or less forgettable & I don't think that I made any notes that w[oul]d be interesting to you.
    Sir C[harles] Hobhouse didn't turn up. I'm sure that he is pompous & was no loss. Old Sir H. B. was quiet and charming. I had a splendid walk on Sunday morning & it was amusing to go with him to see his purchases at Lincoln in the afternoon. When are you coming to look at some drawings?
