Reeve (Norwich Exh[ibitio]n Cat[alogue] 1888, p 20) and Dickes, following Reeve, state that J. S. C made up a number of lots for sale at Christie's.
The priced catalogue at Christie's, seen by me July 16th 1928, has 'Bulwer' written in ink on the left side of the lots. The Rev[erend] J. Bulwer (1794-186?) took up his residence in London in 1833. On Nov 13, 1835 J. S. C writes to his son that Mr Bulwer was one of his guests at an evening party.
    The collection sold at Christie's May 11 & 12, 1836, is evidently Bulwer's & not Cotman's.
