    1809.
    Dec 19. Mr & Mrs C & Miss Darell dined at Mr Sydney Smith’s at Heslington.
    — 20 They returned home.
    1810.
    Feb 2. Mr & Mrs Morritt came to dinner.
    — 4 Mr & Mrs Morritt went away.
    July 5. Mr & Mrs Sydney Smith came to dinner.
    — 6 Mr & Mrs [Sydney Smith] & Mr C went to see Duncombe Park & returned to dinner.
    — 7 Mr & Mrs S[ydney] S[mith] went away.
    1811.
    Sep 2. The Archb[isho]p of York[,] Lady Ann & the 2 Miss Vernons here in the morning.
    Dec 11. James Moore, Gardener, etc. left Brandsby after a service of very near[ly – crossed out] Fifty Six Years.

    1813.
    Oct 18. They set out for Cale Hill in Kent.
    Nov 24 They all went to Canterbury to a house called the White Friars which Mr C took for 6 months.

    1814.
    May 22. Mr C accompanied by Mr Edward Swinburne sen[ior] set out from London to Dover, they sailed to Calais & arrived at Paris 26th.
    June 10 Mr C left Paris.
    Dec 16. A remarkably high wind which lasted the whole day. Soon after 12 at noon the fine old Wych Elm in the leas in front of the house was blown down. In the great plantation 20 trees chiefly Spruce firs were destroyed & many others injured.
