    Oct 3. Lord Palmerston & Mr Sullivan went away early.
    Oct 4 Mr Cotman went to Castle Howard. [1]
    Oct 11. Mr Cotman returned in the evening.
    Oct 12 Mr Cotman & Harriet at Castle Howard in the morning.
    Nov 1. Mr Ann, Mr Cotman & Francis went to see Duncombe Park.
    — 7 Mr Temple came.
    — 9 Mr Temple went away at night.
    Nov. 14 Mrs Cholmeley & Mr Cotman at Gilling all the morning.
    Nov 19. Mr & Mrs Cholmeley & Mr Cotman went to York. [2]
    Nov 20. Mr & Mrs Cholmeley returned from York.
    mem. The greatest quantity of Wasps this summer, ever known.

    Jan 25. We heard of Mr Pitt’s death. One of the cart horses fell down dead in the shafts. A pointer kicked by a horse and killed in the field.
