    {Kitson's notes}
    This large w.c. was offered to V[ictoria] & A[lbert] Mus[eum] some time ago. It is much rubbed. It is difficult to date it in J. S. C.'s work. Can it be Francia? * [[19 + 20 +]] 22 -28 & 30. (8) are drawings thrown out from the Bulwer Coll: by Bell. 21 is a very fine 'drawing copy' type. It was exh[ibite]d at Dublin by Woolmer at a date unknown to me.
    *Lawrence Binyon suggests this sea piece may be by John Thirtle. In 1816 Thirtle exhibited at the Norwich exh[ibitio]n - 'Fishing Boats, Storm coming on.'
