Powell Collection (Continued). Besides the Cotmans there is a superb (1) Guisbrough Abbey 'Girtin 1801.' 24 1/2 x 20
(2) also a w.c. by him of 3 arched bridges at Pont-y-Pair - 15 x 20 1/2. looks '1800-ish'. An artist has left his 3 leg sketching stool on a rock in the foreground to rescue his top hat which is falling into the water: in doing so he has let fall his small colour palette.
(3) There is a David Cox after J S Cotman of his 'Chateau in Normandy'. A fairly faithful copy, but the colour is bricky and slatey.
(4) There is a watergate, Lower Close, Norwich,- not particularly good - rather 'bucolic', by Thirtle.
(5) 'Wimbledon Common' by W Callow - long and breezy.
(6) A watercolour, almost a monochrome, of N entrance to Cathedral Rouen. H Edridge 1807.
(7) A Landscape, unfinished, by W. Havell, lovely early Cotman style.
(8) 'Vale of Llanberis. July 28. 1802.' by P S Munn sepia indian ink wash.
(9) 'Rouen J. H. Aug 14.' a brilliant drawing of the clock tower.
