    Dear Kitson,
    The beautiful publication of your article came yesterday and I hasten to thank you for such a charming present. I always feel that an author's gift of his own work has an additional value ad I am proud to possess yours. I have read it and I like it very much, and the beautiful illustrations add an extra charm: our own picture looks very good. I think your account of Cotman very well done & very interesting.
    I am consumed with shame at not having written before I did to thank you for the letters
